Estate Planning

Exercise. Recycling. Better eating habits. Reducing time on technology. There is a seemingly endless list of things we should be doing, but for various reason we don’t do them. For many individuals, taking care of their estate plan is on that list as well. The good news is that it’s not too late.

Taking the time to guard and protect the ones you love and the things you’ve earned will give you peace of mind. I’m here to walk through the process with you and to help you make the decisions that are best for you and your loved ones.

Probate

If you are here to learn more about the probate process after the passing of a loved one, I first want to say I am sorry for your loss. I hope the information you find on this site will simplify any legal or administrative headaches you might otherwise face in such a difficult time.

Probate is the process through the court system to ensure the legal transfer of assets from the deceased’s name to the names of the deceased’s legal heirs or beneficiaries. Probate is generally also necessary to prove the validity of a will, appoint someone to manage the estate, inventory and appraise estate property, pay debts and taxes of the deceased, and distribute the estate property as directed by the will (or by state law if there is no will).
